Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) - Sept 06

The European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 97/23/EC came into force on 29 November 1999. All items of pressure equipment placed on the market in the European Economic Area (EEA) after May 2002 must comply with the Directive and have evidence of compliance by carrying the CE marking as applicable.

Hobbs Valve is proud to announce that the ever achieving TVT range successfully gained PED compliance during August of this year. The Quality Director Richard Higgs stated "PED compliance coupled with our ISO 9001:2000 further illustrates the outstanding capability of the TVT range of Triple Offset Butterfly Valves; it is our commitment to our customers that we will endeavour to supply our products to the highest of standards and expectations of the Industries we supply."

New BVAA member, Hobbs Valve Ltd, is a new company formed specifically to bring to market an improved, leak-tight, triple-offset butterfly valve which has had an enthusiastic welcome from engineers and distributors since its launch.

Based in Caerphilly, South Wales, Hobbs Valve has been established by industry professionals with significant knowledge, experience and achievements in the field.

The company's TVT range of long-life valves, which are made entirely in Britain, include highly innovative, patented designs. Hobbs is progressively becoming established as a supplier of high specification, reliable butterfly valves delivering demand-exceeding performance in a wide variety of applications.

Concentrating initially on 3" to 24" for pressure ratings 150lb and 300lb. Their design requires a simpler manufacturing process, which produces lightweight, compact yet exceedingly robust valves and allows for competitive pricing. Hobbs also promise remarkably short lead times and swift delivery.

Hobbs Valve claim to be the first valve manufacturer to obtain BS EN ISO 10497:2004 under the new Lloyds Register approval scheme. As expected the TVT range recorded zero through-seat and external leakage during tests at 15 Bar G > 1000°C. The company is also accredited to International Quality Standard ISO 9001:2004.

Marketing director Rhys Jones said "It is our intention to become a leader in the design, manufacture and supply of process valves for use within the oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical and power industries worldwide."

Fire Type Test BS EN ISO 10497: 2004 - Feb 06

We are pleased to announce that the TVT range of triple Offset Butterfly Valves successfully passed the fire type testing requirements of BS EN ISO 10497: 2004 on the 8th March 2006. The team chose to gain approval through the new superseded standard as opposed to BS6755-2:1987 to illustrate our commitment to becoming recognised as a forward thinking company.

Lloyds Register confirmed that Hobbs valve were the first Valve manufacturer to obtain BS EN ISO 10497:2004 under their approval scheme.

As illustrated and certified by Lloyds Register the Hobbs Valve TVT range passed with an exceptional achievement of Zero leakage on both through seat leakage and external leakage @ 15 Bar G > 1000°C.

First Point Approval Limited - Feb 06

During the month of June Hobbs valve became a member of First Point Assessment Limited (FPAL). FPAL is an oil and gas industry steered company, established in 1996, and now forming part of Achilles Group Limited.

Their prime objective is to identify opportunities for cost reduction and performance improvement throughout the supply chain. They are primarily concerned with bringing efficiencies in the procurement of goods and services by sharing better information and minimising duplication.

Progressively Hobbs Valve and the TVT range of Triple Offset Butterfly Valves are becoming established as a supplier of high specification, innovative butterfly valves coupled with competitive pricing and lead times.
